Hello from the other side of the pond!

Adele will headline a two-hour event titled “An Audience with Adele,” which was taped at the London Palladium and broadcast in the United Kingdom in November.

The event, which will air on NBC later this month, will include the singer performing songs from her recent album 30, including the smash hit “Easy on Me.” “Hello” and “Someone Like You” are among the other hits that fans will be able to hear.

According to a press release, Adele, 33, will address celebrity guests’ questions on her influences and role models and be surprised by a guest from her early years.

The announcement of the upcoming event special comes more than a month after Adele announced the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency in late January, confessing that she “tried [her] hardest” to bring the show together in time but fell short. She did, however, hint that new dates would be released shortly.

Last month, the 15-time Grammy winner revealed to Graham Norton, “It would have been a really half-arsed show and I can’t do that.  People will see straight through me up on the stage … I’ve never done anything like that in my life and I’m not going to start now.”

Adele emphasized that she and her crew “are now working our arses off, but I don’t want to announce a new set of dates until I know everything will definitely be ready.”

“It is absolutely 100% happening this year. It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year. Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby!” she continued.

Adele just won multiple awards at the 2022 BRIT Awards for her latest studio album, 30, including album of the year.

The British singer got tearful during her acceptance speech, dedicating the award to her ex-husband Simon Konecki, whom she divorced in March 2021, and their 9-year-old son Angelo.

“I’d like to dedicate this award to my son. And to Simon, to his dad. This album was all of our journey, not just mine and I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was about something so personal to me,” she spoke through tears. ” ‘Cause not many people do stuff like that anymore.”

Adele also said, “And my son has been so gracious, so gracious and kind and patient with me over the last couple of years and it’s for him.”

“An Audience with Adele” will premiere on NBC on March 20 at 9 p.m. ET and will be available on Peacock the following day.

Billy Joel Slams His Own Upcoming Biopic Piano Man

Billy Joel has not given his approval to the upcoming biopic on his life, Piano Man.

A spokesman for the legendary musician has stated that Billy Joel “is not involved with” Michael Jai White’s Jaigantic Studios’ upcoming biopic.

“No rights in music, name/likeness or life story will be granted,” the representative said in a statement.

According to Variety, the biopic “will follow Billy Joel’s early years — from being discovered by Irwin Mazur, who managed the band The Hassles that Joel joined as a teenager, to his breakout performance in 1972 that captured the attention of Clive Davis.

Jaigantic reportedly obtained the “life rights” to Mazur, Joel’s music rep in the early 1970s, just before the breakthrough of his ‘Piano Man’ album.

The upcoming film’s producers told Variety that the music requirements for the film are “yet to be determined.”

Adam Ripp, the film’s expected director and screenwriter, told Variety that Joel “has been a part of my life since my father signed him to his record label when I was 4 years old.”

“His music is ingrained in my DNA and it’s been a dream of mine as a filmmaker to explore and celebrate the untold story of how Billy Joel became the ‘Piano Man,'” Ripp further said.

Variety also confirmed that Apple is planning a biopic of renowned actress Audrey Hepburn starring Rooney Mara.

The movie will be directed by Oscar-nominated Call Me by Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, with Mara producing and The Giver co-writer Michael Mitnick writing the script.

Tate McRae Reveals Her Debut Album Is Done

Tate McRae has revealed that she has completed her long-awaited debut studio album and teased a new single.

Last year, the rising Canadian artist released the EP ‘Too Young To Be Sad’ and has teased her first album with her 2021 single ‘Feel Like Shit’ and the latest ‘She’s All I Wanna Be,’ co-written by Greg Kurstin.

McRae seemed to confirm this week on Twitter that the album is finally complete.

“I just handed in the official track list for my album oh my,” she tweeted before previewing an unreleased song called ‘Chaotic,’ which listeners can now pre-save.

Tate McRae said of her debut album last year, “I like to try to analyze structures of different albums and see what kind mine might be similar to,” citing the labyrinthine structure on Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde,’ as well as The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours,’ and Billie Eilish’s debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go.’

“The cool thing about ‘Blonde’,” she explained, “is that I don’t think I’ve heard one song that sounds anything the same to him and, you know, the cool part is it kind of just makes you want to push yourself.”

McRae also discussed the expectations she’s faced since the release of her debut single, ‘One Day,’ in 2017.

“I just want to work as hard as I can to live up to my own expectations and everyone else’s,” she explained. “I guess it’s a bit of pressure but if you put your head down and work at it, you can kind of ignore those outside feelings of anxiety and stress. It’s just about indulging in your work and making sure that you’re doing the best that you can at all times. “

Tate McRae will also be touring the UK this summer before releasing her debut album.

After the initial After Hours tour was postponed multiple times owing to the coronavirus outbreak, the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour will be the Canadian pop star’s first worldwide tour.

Grammy-nominated Doja Cat will join the “Dawn FM” musician for the North American portion. This will comprise 18 shows starting in July in his birthplace of Toronto at Rogers Centre and concluding in September in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium.

It is going to be a high-concept, high-tech production in the vein of the new album “Dawn FM.”

The production will also be linked to the singer’s Amazon Prime special, which explores a post-pandemic departure from purgatory.

The general public on-sale begins on March 10 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.

The Weeknd had planned to announce the tour a week ago. However, he delayed the announcement when the world’s focus shifted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. On February 24, he tweeted, “unfortunately i’m just now seeing what’s happening with the conflict and will pause on tomorrow’s announcement. I pray for everyone’s safety. “

The After Hours Til Dawn tour will include some of the most popular songs from the last two years. These include “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears,” the world’s leading streaming singles in 2020 and 2021.

Each ticket purchased on the North American leg of The Weeknd’s tour will contribute $1 to his new XO Humanitarian Fund. The fund is a collaboration between The Weeknd and the United Nations’ World Food Programme. The artist also announced that he will contribute $500,000 to the cause.

John Mayer Leaves Columbia Records After 21 Years

John Mayer, who has spent most of his career at Columbia Records, shocked fans on Friday by announcing his departure from the label. The singer revealed on Friday that he will not be renewing his contract with the record company with which he released eight studio albums, most recently Sob Rock.

“After 21 years, eight studio albums, and some wonderful personal and creative relationships, I have decided not to renew my recording agreement with Columbia Records,” he posted on Instagram. “Hard as it is to say goodbye, I’m excited to pursue new avenues of making music, both of my own and with other artists.”

Mayer signed with Columbia Records in 2001 after performing at South by Southwest. He released all eight of his albums with Columbia Records. These include his debut Room For Squares, Heavier Things in 2003, Continuum in 2006, Battle Studios in 2009, and The Search for Everything in 2017.

“I love music more than ever, and I believe some of my best work still lies ahead,” he said on Instagram before signing off. “With gratitude and enthusiasm, John.”

He was nominated for 19 Grammys while at Columbia and won seven. These included song of the year in 2005 for “Daughters,” best male pop vocal performance in 2009 for “Say,” and best solo rock vocal performance in the same year for “Gravity.”

Mayer is now touring the United States as part of his Sob Rock tour.

John Mayer had said that his LP Sob Rock was a “shitpost” last summer. “It’s called Sob Rock because it’s a shitpost,” he said to Zane Lowe. “But more importantly, it’s what I thought was a shitpost, and this gets down to where artists sit in front of you and play you what they think is their garbage. And you go, ‘That’s the best thing I ever heard you play.’ It makes a mockery of their interpretation of the experience. Which is just enough to break out of the mold and make something unique.”

Dua Lipa Sued By Reggae Band for Alleged Copyright Infringement of “Levitating”

Levitating, the chart-topping single by Dua Lipa, has now levitated into legal territory.

According to court records acquired by E! News on March 2, the 26-year-old pop star is now being sued for copyright infringement in connection with her 2020 smash track, “Levitating.” The members of Artikal Sound System, a Florida-based reggae band, filed the case against the pop diva and her label, Warner Records.

The band claims in the case, filed in federal court in Los Angeles that Dua’s song is “substantially similar” to their 2017 single, “Live Your Life.” Although the group does not go into detail about how the singer and her group allegedly plagiarised their song, their lawsuit claims, “In 2020, on information and belief, Defendants listened to and copied ‘Live Your Life’ before and during the time when they were writing ‘Levitating.'”

“Given the degree of similarity,” they stated in the documents, “it is highly unlikely that ‘Levitating’ was created independently from ‘Live Your Life.'”

Additionally, Warner Records is listed as a defendant, as are songwriters Stephen Kozmeniuk, Sarah Hudson, Clarence Coffee, Jr., and Bosco Kante.

According to Artikal Sound System, they have been touring and performing together since 2010, and their album featuring Live Your Life reached number two on the Billboard reggae chart in 2017.

Their single “Live Your Life” was released in 2017 on CD Baby and is also available via streaming sites such as Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon, and Sound Cloud.

Additionally, the band has included what they claim is a copy of the Certificate of Copyright from the United States Copyright Office for their single Live Your Life.

Artikal Sound System is demanding an award of profits and actual damages from the defendants.

‘Levitating’ from Dua Lipa’s album Future Nostalgia, released in October 2020, was a huge success for the artist, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also became the longest-running Top-10 single by a female singer, according to Billboard, after lasting more than 41 weeks on the charts.

Lady Gaga, 35, was nominated for her role of Patrizia Reggiani in House of Gucci. Likewise, Cooper, 47, was nominated for his performance in Licorice Pizza as an Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

The SAG reunion comes three years after they worked together on the highly acclaimed film A Star is Born, which he directed and co-starred in with Gaga.

Both were nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress at the 2019 Academy Awards, with Gaga taking home the award for Best Original Song for ‘Shallow.’

The pair also performed at that event, performing an intimate duet of the song ‘Shallow,’ which has been viewed more than 500 million times on YouTube, making it the most-watched Oscars moment of all time.

Since its debut in 2018, Lady Gaga’s official music video for ‘Shallow’ has accumulated 1.2 billion views.

A Star Is Born helped form an unbreakable relationship between the Grammy-winning singer and actor.

Cooper told People in 2018: “I made a friend for life. As great as this movie was, the thing that I think I’ll take away forever is the relationship I have with her because she is an incredible person. I’m very lucky to have worked with her.”

The singer, who signed with London-based Tap Management in 2013, shocked the company’s executives last week when she said she was no longer interested in being represented by them.

According to music industry sources, her departure is connected to the cut she gets from Tap Management-negotiated recording and promotional deals.

Dua Lipa, a three-time Grammy winner currently on a 73-date tour of the United States, is signed to Warner Music and has significant endorsement deals with brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, and Evian. Additionally, she has social media deals to advertise the Truly alcoholic drink.

While some of her sponsorships are recent, others date back to her meteoric rise to worldwide superstardom with 79 million Instagram followers, when her negotiation position would have been far weaker.

A source stated of her sudden decision to quit Tap Management and her manager, Ben Mawson, “It all came as a bit of a shock, but unfortunately there will always be disagreements when it comes to money. Things had been brewing for some time. “

“Tap have taken her from an unknown teenager to the most successful female artist in the world. When you look at it like that, you can’t help but think something quite bad has happened.”

According to her most recent financial statements, Dua Lipa’s earnings more than doubled to over $67.8 million last year, up from $30.8 million in 2020. Additionally, the 26-year-old is worth $37.8 million via her touring company Dua Lipa Live LLP.

Her single, One Kiss, topped charts all over the world in 2018, making her a household name. A year later, she received the Brit Award for Song of the Year and the Grammy Awards for best new artist and best dance recording.

Dua Lipa’s father, Dukagjin, is reportedly taking over her management from Tap, which also manages Ellie Goulding and former Little Mix vocalist Leigh-Ann Pinnock.

The 2022 Oscars Hosts Are Finally Revealed

Will Packer, the Oscars telecast’s producer, initially intended to bring on two hosts for each hour, but the award event, scheduled for Sunday, March 27, is now looking for three hosts altogether, according to The New York Times.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscars have not been hosted by three people in 35 years, and the 2022 ceremony will be the first time that many women served as emcees in a single evening. According to the publication, each comedian will host a one-hour segment of the event, with Amy starting things off.

Three hosts is a significant change from the previous three years of ceremonies, which had no host at all. Jimmy Kimmel was the most recent host in 2018. Other notable emcees include Chris Rock in 2016, Neil Patrick Harris in 2015, and Ellen DeGeneres in 2014 when she took the now-famous selfie from the event, which was the most retweeted image in history until 2017.

When the show lacked a primary host, each award was presented by a long lineup of actors and celebrities.

The 2021 Oscars were shot in person from different places after being rescheduled from February to April due to the virus. This year’s event has also been rescheduled from February 27 to March 27.

Andrew Garfield has been nominated for his leading part in Tick Tick… Boom!, Kristen Stewart has been nominated for her leading role in Spencer, and Ariana DeBose has been nominated for her supporting role in West Side Story.

Wanda, Amy, and Regina, all of whom have experience hosting events, will undoubtedly entertain the nominated actors and filmmakers in attendance.

According to Deadline, the Academy expects to formally announce the ceremony’s hosts Tuesday, Feb. 15, on Good Morning America.
