Bad Bunny Unveils Name of His Upcoming Album Via Classified Car Advert

Leave it to Bad Bunny to reveal the title of his new album in the most unpredictable way possible.

Earlier this week (April 21), an advert for a 2019 Bugatti Chiron for sale appeared on a Puerto Rican classifieds website, complete with information about the vehicle and the seller, Benito A. Martinez Ocasio (Bunny’s full name).

The advertisement appeared in Clasificados Online and advertised the car for $3.5 million (£2.7 million), with a phone number provided.

Curious fans dialed the number provided, only to find they were calling to hear a song teaser, and they would later get a text message in Spanish stating that Benny’s new album is titled Un Verano Sin Ti (A Summer Without You).

The text says that the album has yet to have a release date. It’s from Bad Bunny himself and translates, “Hello! Thank you for calling. There’s only a little time left until the album comes out. I still can’t say the date, but I can tell you the name: Un Verano Sin Ti.” People started looking through the phone number from which Bad Bunny sent the text and information in the ad to see if it hinted at the release date.

Bad Bunny’s latest album, El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, received a Grammy for Best Musica Urbana Album earlier this month. The Puerto Rican performer did not attend the event since his El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo tour was coming to an end with his last concert in Miami.

He teased his new album on Twitter after the performance, saying, “Yesterday I finished a stage of my career in the best way possible: Closing the tour of El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo and winning the Grammy with that same album.” He then said that he had completed his new album and that it would be released shortly.

In December, Bad Bunny was named the world’s most-listened-to artist on Spotify for the second consecutive year. In the same month, he surprised fans with a music video for ‘Te Deseo Lo Mejor,’ which he co-created with The Simpsons.

Snoop Dogg Says He Considered Re-Recording His Music Like Taylor Swift

Snoop Dogg nearly followed in the footsteps of another musician who is polar opposite him: Taylor Swift. On a new episode of the Full Send podcast, which premiered Wednesday (April 20), the 50-year-old rapper discussed how his plan for Death Row Records, which he bought in February, would ensure that musicians get fair compensation for their work, avoiding the situation with Swift’s masters.

Snoop Dogg mentioned the “All Too Well” singer as a “perfect example” of a musician exploring similar workarounds to the industry’s obsolete contracts that prevent them from earning a decent living off their music. “She ain’t an old artist at all — she’s quite new,” he remarked of Swift, who started re-recording her first six albums in 2019 after her master recordings were sold against her will to Scooter Braun.

“What did she do?” he said. “She remastered her album. Why? Because she wasn’t making revenues off of that album.”

One of the show’s hosts then asked if Snoop was trying to smear Braun. “I ain’t firing shots at nobody. Scooter’s my friend, I’m just giving the truth, ” the rapper said. “This is public information, am I lying? Ask her why did she redo her album? Because she couldn’t get finances so she redid her album as a way of ‘I’ll make this for my fans, and they’ll support me because those are my vocals, this is my music, and I should be making money off of my project when you buy it.'”

The rapper went on to say that he nearly did the same thing with his 1993 album Doggystyle. “I was going to remaster my album,” he said. “My son had told me years ago, he was like, ‘You should just remaster Doggystyle, Pops.’

“But I didn’t want to go that approach, because you can’t remaster Doggystyle like you can remaster them R&B songs. That (expletive) was a feeling, that (expletive) was a moment. You can’t recapture that.”

Snoop Dogg previously acquired Death Row Records in February, almost three decades after the label released Doggystyle. The following month, he pulled all Death Row albums from digital streaming services and revealed plans to start his own streaming service, according to Billboard.

The DJ and producer took to Twitter yesterday to post an image of a billboard with the album’s title. Harris captioned the image “Summer ’22” without revealing the actual release date.

Calvin Harris Sets Summer Release Date For 'Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2' - Windobi

His upcoming sixth studio album will be his first in five years after the release of the first volume of ‘Funk Wav Bounces’ in 2017.

The singles from that album were ‘Heatstroke,’ ‘Slide,’ ‘Faking It,’ ‘Rollin,’ and the chart-topping ‘Feels,’ which featured Katy Perry, Pharrell, and Big Sean.

There’s no word on what to expect from volume two, but with Calvin Harris scheduled to play at a number of major festivals this summer, it’s safe to assume that new music will be released shortly or possibly debuted during some of his upcoming performances.

Earlier this year, Harris released a new single titled ‘Lonely’ under the alias Love Regenerator.

It’s the latest in a string of singles released by the DJ under the alias since its inception in January 2020. Harris collaborates on the single alongside Sandara Maitreya and Riva Starr.

Among the Scottish producer’s future shows is a massive Glasgow stadium performance in July at Hampden Park.

It will be his first performance in his native country since he headlined T In The Park in 2016.

This summer is looking to be a busy one for Harris. He has already been booked for EXIT Festival, Sziget, Creamfields South, and the Belfast-based Belsonic. He’ll also be performing at Ushuaa Ibiza from June to September.

In addition, he will be on the lineup for the debut edition of the Munich event SUPERBLOOM with Megan Thee Stallion.

The new event will be held on September 3-4 in the Olympiapark and Olympiastadion München in Munich, Germany.

Harry Styles Duets With Shania Twain & Debuts Two New Songs at Coachella

Harry Styles, 28, is a natural performer in front of large crowds, and he surprised Coachella fans on the festival’s first night by not only debuting two new songs but also bringing in country music icon Shania Twain for a pair of duets.

The singer initially introduced Twain, who appeared from a platform at the back of the stage at the end of his act to perform her 1997 song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” with him. After that, Styles — who previously sang Twain’s “You’re Still the One” with Kacey Musgraves at a Madison Square Garden show in 2018 — and Twain dueted on the Come On Over single.

During his performance with Twain, Styles addressed the audience, saying, “Now I have to tell you, in the car with my mother as a child, this lady taught me to sing.”

“You’re Still the One,” according to Billboard, was Twain’s highest-charting single on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 2, while “Man!” peaked at No. 23. According to the outlet, “The One” was also a No. 1 smash on both the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.

“I’m [at a] loss for words, I’m a bit starstruck…” Twain said to the audience. “When I was writing this song, you were just a kid, so it’s kind of a dream and very surreal to be sitting right here now, singing this song with you.”

Earlier in the show, Styles debuted two new songs: the recently released “As It Was,” and a new song apparently titled “Boyfriends.”

For the track’s debut, Styles requested the audience to “please be gentle.” The acoustic song with several harmonies talks about an on-again, off-again relationship in which “you still open the door.”

Styles later debuted another new song, “Late Night Talking.”

It all tied in perfectly with Styles’ opening line: “We have a full moon, you have a ticket and I have to play.”

Harry’s House, Styles’ third album and first since 2019’s Fine Line, is set to be released on May 20. Before that, Styles will head to Indio, California, to perform during Coachella’s second weekend’s Friday night festivities.

According to his publicist, he died of myotonic dystrophy type 2, a kind of muscular dystrophy.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor,” his family announced on Twitter.

Gottfried is most recognized for his role as the parrot Iago in the 1992 film Aladdin. He returned to reprise the character in the film’s sequels, including The Return Of Jafar and Aladdin And The King Of Thieves, as well as the video game franchise Kingdom Hearts.

Many fellow comedians and Gottfried’s former co-stars paid tribute on social media.

“Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at times when laughter did not come easily. What a gift,” actor Jason Alexander tweeted.

Pink Floyd Release New Single in Decades to Support Ukraine

Pink Floyd has released its first new single in decades to support the Ukraine rescue effort.

The new song, titled ‘Hey, Hey, Rise Up,’ incorporates a sample of Andriy Khlyvnyuk, the vocalist of Ukrainian band Boombox, and is the band’s first original music release since 1994’s ‘The Division Bell.’ The song’s proceeds will be donated to Ukraine Humanitarian Relief.

According to a press statement, Pink Floyd recorded ‘Hey, Hey, Rise Up’ on March 30 this year with David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Guy Pratt (bass), and Nitin Sawhney (keyboards). You can listen to the song and watch the accompanying video, directed by Mat Whitecross, on all music platforms.

In a statement about the new song, Gilmour said, “I hope it will receive wide support and publicity. We want to raise funds for humanitarian charities, and raise morale. We want to express our support for Ukraine and in that way, show that most of the world thinks that it is totally wrong for a superpower to invade the independent democratic country that Ukraine has become. “

“We, like so many, have been feeling the fury and the frustration of this vile act of an independent, peaceful democratic country being invaded and having its people murdered by one of the world’s major powers,” the artist, who has a Ukrainian family, continued.

“We recorded the track and video in our barn where we did all our Von Trapped Family live streams during lockdown,” Gilmour said of the track’s creation. “It’s the same room that we did the ‘Barn Jams’ with Rick Wright back in 2007. Janina Pedan made the set in a day and we had Andriy singing on the screen while we played, so the four of us had a vocalist, albeit not one who was physically present with us.”

Gilmour also mentioned how he had performed with Khlyvnyuk’s band in 2015 as part of a charity concert for the Belarus Free Theater and how he was in the middle of a US tour with Boombox in February when he returned to his hometown to fight on the frontlines against the Russians.

Khlyvnyuk is sampled on ‘Hey, Hey, Rise Up!’ singing the patriotic Ukrainian hymn ‘The Red Viburnum’ on Kyiv’s Sofiyskaya Square, which was recorded in a viral Instagram video submitted to Gilmour recently.

“He stands in a square in Kyiv with this beautiful gold-domed church and sings in the silence of a city with no traffic or background noise because of the war,” Gilmour said. “It was a powerful moment that made me want to put it to music.”

Gilmour was able to talk from his hospital bed after sustaining injuries during the war. “I played him a little bit of the song down the phone line, and he gave me his blessing,” he said. “We both hope to do something together in person in the future.”

2022 Grammys: Silk Sonic and Jon Batiste Take Home Major Awards

On Sunday night, the 64th annual Grammy Awards saw big wins for Silk Sonic, Jon Batiste, and Olivia Rodrigo, extravagant performances from a music industry battling to recover from the pandemic, and an emotional call for help from Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s throwback soul-funk project started the show, which was streamed live from Las Vegas.

The group performed “777,” a song about Las Vegas’s high-rolling Sin City side. Moments later, Silk Sonic won song of the year for “Leave the Door Open,” a soothing early ’70s soul throwback.

“Leave the Door Open” was also awarded record of the year and best R&B song. Silk Sonic was also tied for best R&B performance with Jazmine Sullivan.

“We are really trying to remain humble at this point,” said Anderson .Paak, real name Brandon Paak Anderson, while receiving the record of the year. “But in the industry, we call that a clean sweep.”

Silk Sonic and Batiste’s wins kept Olivia Rodrigo, a 19-year-old Disney television sensation who broke into the music industry with tremendous success and critical acclaim, from completing her own four-category sweep. She did, however, win the award for best new artist.

“This is my biggest dream come true,” Rodrigo said as she accepted the award. She also won best pop vocal album for “Sour” and best pop solo performance for “Drivers License,” which she performed on a stage designed to resemble a suburban street, her voice soaring to emotional heights and then breaking as it fell.

Jon Batiste, the bandleader for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” won album of the year for “We Are,” which had little commercial success but had considerable support from the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammys. Batiste was nominated for 11 awards, more than any other artist, and took home five of them.

“I just put my head down and work on the craft every day… It’s more than entertainment for me, it’s a spiritual practice,” Batiste said while accepting his Grammy for album of the year. “Be you, that’s it.” He also emphasised that there are no “best” artists or albums but that “it’s like a song or an album is made and it almost has a radar to find a person when they need it the most.”

The Grammys ceremony, which was previously slated for January 31 in Los Angeles, was pushed back nine weeks by the Omicron variant and moved to Las Vegas for the first time. “Better late than never,” remarked Trevor Noah, the host, as the CBS telecast began at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Breaks Single-Day Streaming Record on Spotify

On its first day of release, Harry Styles’ new single, ‘As It Was’ broke a Spotify record.

‘As It Was’ is the first glimpse of harry Styles’ upcoming third studio album, ‘Harry’s House,’ which he announced with a teaser video last month. It will be released on May 20th, following the release of ‘Fine Line’ in 2019.

Yesterday (April 2), Spotify reported that the single has become the most-streamed song in the United States in a single day, breaking Olivia Rodrigo’s previous record with her hit ‘Drivers License.’

According to Billboard, ‘As It Was’ received 8.3 million streams in a single day, breaking the previous record of 8 million streams held by ‘Drivers License.’

Styles’ new song is also the most-streamed song worldwide on Spotify in a single day for 2022, with 21.6 million streams, surpassing Anitta’s ‘Envolver,’ which had 8.6 million single-day streams in March.

In an interview with Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up, Styles said, “I feel very lucky that this is the proudest I’ve been of something that I’ve made so far. I feel the most comfortable I’ve been with myself and happiest with what I’m making.”

Tanu Muino, a Ukrainian filmmaker, directed the accompanying music video, which was shot in London. For the video, Styles wears a red sequined leotard while performing diverse choreography, all while being pulled away from a woman wearing a blue version of Style’s costume.

The former One Direction member recently announced more UK and European stadium dates for his ‘Love On Tour.’ The increased demand for more concerts followed a spike of demand that overwhelmed Ticketmaster’s website in January.

Harry Styles will be one of the headliners at this year’s Coachella, with Billie Eilish and Ye, or Kanye West, in April.

Billie Eilish And Finneas Win Oscar for Best Original Song

At Sunday’s 94th Academy Awards, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell took home the Academy Award for original song for “No Time to Die,” the title track of the latest James Bond film.

It’s the third Academy Award for music in the long-running spy saga, after Adele’s win for “Skyfall” in 2012 and Sam Smith’s for “Writing’s on the Wall” from 2015’s “Spectre.”

The song was written nearly three years ago by the two and was released in February 2020. They also performed the song during the Oscars broadcast.

It was also a clean sweep for the brother-sister duo, who had already won a Grammy and a Golden Globe, as well as Critics’ Choice and Society of Composers & Lyricists awards, for their song “No Time to Die.”

“This is so unbelievable I could scream,” Eilish said at the start of her acceptance speech. Finneas, 24, expressed gratitude to his parents, saying, “We want to thank our parents, who have always been our biggest inspirations and heroes, and we love you as parents, and we love you as real people too.”

Beyoncé, Van Morrison, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Diane Warren were all nominated for Best Original Song, but Eilish and Finneas took the win.

Billie Eilish is one of the category’s youngest winners, although not the youngest; that honor belongs to Markéta Irglová, who was 19 when “Falling Slowly” from Once won in 2008. However, Eilish and Finneas made history by being the first American composers to win Best Original Song for a Bond theme.

Eilish told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that they were given bits of the script to help them decide which themes to focus on.

Following the completion of the demo, the siblings worked with Hans Zimmer, who produced the orchestration, and recorded the song with a 70-person orchestra. Johnny Marr played guitar in the song as well.
