The Zach Feldman Show Takes Over Silver Scream Con V

The Zach Feldman Show hit the road for a special episode from Silver Scream Con V, bringing Z Radio Live inside the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts for a weekend packed with horror, artists, vendors, tattoos and exclusive interviews.

Fresh off the convention floor, Zach Feldman brought listeners along for some of the best moments from the weekend, including conversations with horror artist Chris Butler, The Horror Family, North Street Tattoo and Scream 7 stunt performer Jeremy Connor.

From Horror Art to an Unexpected Music Career

One of the first stops of the weekend was with Chris Butler of Chris Butler Designs, whose horror-inspired artwork has become a fixture at conventions.

Butler explained that many of his designs begin while he is actually watching the movie, with a particular scene or image sparking an idea that eventually becomes a finished poster.

But the conversation quickly took an unexpected turn when Butler revealed that visual art isn’t his only creative outlet.

He also makes music under the name MC Effect and had just released a new album, Mortal Man. Butler explained that his love of hip-hop and horror actually helped lead him into graphic design in the first place, beginning with drawing artwork for his own songs and mixtapes.

Exploring the Silver Scream Con Floor

The show continued through the convention floor with a stop at The Horror Family, a year-round horror shop based in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Owner Matt spoke about turning a lifelong obsession with horror into a business filled with collectibles, apparel, masks and memorabilia. The booth also ended up costing Z Radio Live a few dollars after an orange bedazzled Ghostface mask made its way home from the convention.

Things got even more hands-on when Zach stopped by the North Street Tattoo setup, where artists were tattooing convention attendees right on the show floor.

Tattoo artist Jesse, who has been tattooing for 25 years, explained that one of his favorite parts of working the convention is seeing fans meet people they admire and then helping turn those memories — including autographs — into permanent artwork.

Zach even floated the possibility of trying his hand at tattooing.

That idea did not make it very far.

Jeremy Connor Goes Behind the Ghostface Mask

One of the biggest interviews from Z Radio Live’s Silver Scream Con V coverage came with Jeremy Connor, the stunt performer who stepped behind the Ghostface mask in Scream 7.

Connor spoke about the pressure that comes with taking on one of horror’s most recognizable characters and how he studied previous Ghostface performers before stepping into the role himself.

He also broke down some of the stunt work that went into the film, including fight sequences, falls and several of Ghostface’s most memorable moments.

Connor said the staircase sequence was one of his favorites, while the kitchen fight held a special place for him because it was the first Ghostface kill he filmed.

He also discussed meeting original Scream stunt performer Lee Waddell and said he would love the opportunity to return to the franchise in the future.

Connor also revealed that his recent stunt work has extended beyond horror, including driving work on the upcoming Jumanji project.

Z Radio Live at Silver Scream Con V

From horror artwork and collectibles to live tattooing and a conversation with the man behind Ghostface, Silver Scream Con V gave The Zach Feldman Show plenty to explore.

The special captures just a piece of what filled the DCU Center throughout the weekend and the community that continues to make Silver Scream Con one of the standout events on the horror convention calendar.

A special thank you to David and the entire Silver Scream Con team for welcoming Z Radio Live to Worcester and allowing The Zach Feldman Show to be part of the weekend.

Lil Nas X to Be Honoured at 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony

The 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame will honor Lil Nas X next month.

The rapper and pop star will receive the Hal David Starlight Award on June 16 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, which is given to “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.”

Previous honorees include Taylor Swift, Drake, Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Benny Blanco, Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, and others. The award was established in 2004 to recognize SHOF chairman emeritus Hal David for his support of emerging songwriters.

“Lil Nas X is someone we are very proud to award the Hal David Starlight Award to,” said Nile Rodgers, chair of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. “He has perhaps better than anyone demonstrated how powerful great songs are, with ‘Old Town Road’ and ‘Montero’ dominating the charts for almost every day of the last three years.”

“If you’re lucky enough to be alive at this time, you know exactly who Lil Nas X is and he’s an incredible and inspirational person for every one of his communities as well.”

Nas’ first single, “Old Town Road,” was notably recorded for $50 in a simple Atlanta studio and went on to become the Billboard Hot 100’s longest-running No. 1 hit. Instead of becoming a one-hit-wonder, he has taken his music and stardom in unexpected directions, branching out from the country-hip-hop of his 2019 debut into R&B, rock, and other genres.

Since then, he’s had hits with his “Montero” album and single, as well as “Industry Baby,” a collaboration with Jack Harlow that topped the Billboard Hot 100 last fall. In September, Nas will embark on his first national tour.

Lil Nas X revealed last month that he’ll be on the road, with a few European tour dates planned for the end of the year.

His ‘Long Live Montero’ tour will begin in North America on September 6 at The Fillmore in Detroit and will stop in Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, and other cities before concluding on October 23 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

The ‘Industry Baby’ hitmaker will then embark on a European tour, which will begin in Amsterdam on November 8 and will include stops in Berlin, Paris, Brussels, and Hamburg, before concluding in Barcelona, Spain, on November 17.

Future Reveals His New Album Is Titled ‘I Never Liked You’

Future doesn’t mince words when it comes to the title of his upcoming ninth studio album. The message is self-evident: I NEVER LIKED YOU. Future's New Album

Future’s first studio album since High Off Life in 2020 is set to have collaborations with Drake, Gunna, and Kanye West, who is now legally known as Ye.

Epic Records posted a short clip on Tuesday (April 26) that shows his collaboration with Ye. It comes after a video of Future and Ye filming a music video surfaced online earlier this month.

“Cross me so much, I got nails in my hand/City on fire… City on fire,” Ye raps on the song.

I NEVER LIKED YOU is Future’s most emotionally raw, honest effort to date, according to a new cover article in GQ magazine.

“I’m putting myself out there,” Future explained to the magazine. “Sharing my lifestyle with the world. Sharing my pain with the world. Sharing my ups, sharing my downs with the entire universe. I believe in the energy of the universe and manifestation

He explained that this is why he’s giving himself, adding that “I’m willing to correct myself. I don’t want to just… be wrong. I’m willing to give you all of me, so you can tell me how to build on me, and make me a better me.”

Future said in the interview that he put his heart and soul into the album, which he promised would reveal his heart. “Putting this project together is just people understanding that I love hard,” which is hailed as depending on lyrical aggression rather than hooks. “Probably love the hardest. I wanted to showcase my skills as far as melodies and topics and being vulnerable… I turn pain into diamonds… I do that… with my eyes closed.”

Tyler, The Creator Breaks Record For Biggest Vinyl Sales For A Rap Album

Tyler, The Creator’s latest full-length, ‘Call Me If You Get Lost,’ set the record for the highest vinyl sales week for a rap album in over 30 years.

In June 2021, the Californian rapper released his highly lauded sixth studio album, which went on to win Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards 2022 earlier this month.

According to Stereogum, ‘Call Me…’ returned to the top of the Billboard 200 chart when Tyler released a vinyl version of the album. According to reports, he later sold 49,500 physical copies via his own online store.

The album has now had the ninth-largest sales week for a vinyl album since records started in 1991. ‘Call Me…’ was the highest vinyl sales week of any rap album, reclaiming the crown from Kid Cudi’s ‘Man On The Moon III: The Chosen,’ which sold 41,500 copies last December.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Red (Taylor’s Version),’ released in November, had the highest vinyl sales week overall.

Tyler’s latest full-length effort, according to Stereogum, is the fourth to reclaim the Billboard No. 1 position after a vinyl release. Swift’s ‘Evermore’ and ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’, as well as Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour,’ are the other songs to do so.

Tyler, The Creator is scheduled to return to the UK/Ireland this summer for performances at Wireless, Longitude, and Parklife festivals. He’ll also be performing at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in June.

Snoop Dogg Says He Considered Re-Recording His Music Like Taylor Swift

Snoop Dogg nearly followed in the footsteps of another musician who is polar opposite him: Taylor Swift. On a new episode of the Full Send podcast, which premiered Wednesday (April 20), the 50-year-old rapper discussed how his plan for Death Row Records, which he bought in February, would ensure that musicians get fair compensation for their work, avoiding the situation with Swift’s masters.

Snoop Dogg mentioned the “All Too Well” singer as a “perfect example” of a musician exploring similar workarounds to the industry’s obsolete contracts that prevent them from earning a decent living off their music. “She ain’t an old artist at all — she’s quite new,” he remarked of Swift, who started re-recording her first six albums in 2019 after her master recordings were sold against her will to Scooter Braun.

“What did she do?” he said. “She remastered her album. Why? Because she wasn’t making revenues off of that album.”

One of the show’s hosts then asked if Snoop was trying to smear Braun. “I ain’t firing shots at nobody. Scooter’s my friend, I’m just giving the truth, ” the rapper said. “This is public information, am I lying? Ask her why did she redo her album? Because she couldn’t get finances so she redid her album as a way of ‘I’ll make this for my fans, and they’ll support me because those are my vocals, this is my music, and I should be making money off of my project when you buy it.'”

The rapper went on to say that he nearly did the same thing with his 1993 album Doggystyle. “I was going to remaster my album,” he said. “My son had told me years ago, he was like, ‘You should just remaster Doggystyle, Pops.’

“But I didn’t want to go that approach, because you can’t remaster Doggystyle like you can remaster them R&B songs. That (expletive) was a feeling, that (expletive) was a moment. You can’t recapture that.”

Snoop Dogg previously acquired Death Row Records in February, almost three decades after the label released Doggystyle. The following month, he pulled all Death Row albums from digital streaming services and revealed plans to start his own streaming service, according to Billboard.

Brad Pitt Is Officially Starting a New Career in the Music Industry

Brad Pitt is officially starting a new career in the music industry.

After a thorough redesign, the 57-year-old actor has partnered with Emmy-winning music producer Damien Quintard to revive Miraval Studios, the iconic recording facility situated at Château Miraval in Correns, France, that has held sessions for Pink Floyd, Sting, and The Cranberries.

The music studio, constructed in 1977 by Château Miraval’s then-owner Jacques Loussier, went unused for two decades until Pitt and Quintard decided to restore it to allow artists to record new material.

Quintard told The Hollywood Reporter via a Zoom conversation that he and Pitt “immediately clicked” when they met in Paris.

He remembered, “It was an intense moment where we just talked and talked about sound.  I was amazed at how sensitive and precise he was in his analysis of music.”

Much of the studio’s old recording equipment will be incorporated into a modern setting, including a desk created by Pitt and Quintard. It will also include multiple recording booths, sound and video editing workstations, rare musical instruments and synthesizers, and a mezzanine overlooking the whole studio.

The facility, according to Quintard, has “redefined a remarkable natural reverb so we can record voices or instruments anywhere in the studio. It really is a space where you can produce anything from pop and rock, to hip-hop and classical records.”

The studio is connected to a tower that can accommodate visiting musicians, so artists are never far from their work and may spend weeks on the site recording their next masterpiece. Access to the estate’s swimming pool and meals from Château Miraval’s chefs are also provided.

Château Miraval is a property near to Pitt’s heart, as fans know. The Oscar winner bought the estate in 2012 with then-partner Angelina Jolie, and the two married in the estate’s chapel in 2014.

Even though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split in 2016, he still owns the estate, which is known for its on-site vineyard.

“The combination of Brad’s vision for Miraval and our common passion for taking the time to make simple but beautiful things has resulted in something that is one-of-a-kind,” Quintard said. “We are so excited for musicians of all types to be a part of what we’ve created.”

Miraval Studios will officially open in the summer of 2022.
