How Taylor Swift is casting her new film

Taylor Swift only had two actors in mind for her short film All Too Well: Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien.

The Stranger Things actress and the Teen Wolf alum play love interests who are in a tumultuous relationship in the project. Taylor also stars in and directs the angst-filled film, which features a new, 10-minute version of the same-named track from her re-recorded version of her 2012 album Red, which was released on Friday, Nov. 12, amid a dispute over custody of the pop star’s music.

“I got their numbers and sent them text messages,” Taylor said of hiring Dylan and Sadie on E!’s Daily Pop. “I had already created an entire treatment and script and like, visual kind of references of what I wanted to do.”

“I wanted to have everything ready, like, this is my DP, this is who we are using for set design, this is who we are using for editing, this is who we are using for, this is the producer. I wanted them to know all of the information so they could make a choice and sent them the song,” she continued.

“They had the song before anyone else had the song,” Taylor revealed at the premiere of All Too Well in New York on Friday. “When they said yes, I was so elated because I didn’t have backups in mind.”

When Taylor Swift asked Dylan O’Brien to star in the project, which he referred to as a “trip,” he said yes without hesitation.

“I didn’t know [Taylor] knew who I was at all,” he said. “I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time, I love her, even more now. She’s like the best person ever, she is so brilliant. So yeah, it was like an automatic yes. I think we were sort of just hanging out on the phone and she asked me a while into it, like, you know, how long I wanted to think or whatever and it’s OK if I wanted to say no, and I was like, oh it’s not even a question.”

Taylor told Daily Pop that All Too Well is a “coming-of-age film about a very specific time in someone’s life when you are between 19 and 20.”

She explained that “You have one foot in childhood and one in adulthood and you don’t quite know where to stand and how fragile that makes you in that moment. We go through life, we get our hearts broken, what does that give us, what does that take away. This is a film that ponders such issues.”

Taylor’s fans have long speculated that “All Too Well” is about Jake Gyllenhaal, whom she dated briefly when she was 20 years old in 2010.

Also on Friday, host Seth Meyers asked Taylor, who has often wrote cryptic lyrics about her real-life relationships, “I wonder if there are people who might think that they were the ones you were singing about, if it’s easier or far, far worse for them, 10 years later.”

“To be honest, I haven’t thought about their experience,” she answered.

Taylor Swift told E!’s Daily Pop that re-recording the song “All Too Well” gave her “a real buzz” since the lyrics “had been written a long time ago.”

Fans of the Toronto-born singer had been waiting almost a year and a half since he unveiled the album artwork — a colorful grid of 12 pregnant woman emojis created by British artist Damien Hirst — and revealed the official release date after subtly teasing it on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”

Future, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Giveon, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Tems, Ty Dolla $ign, Project Pat, and Yebba – some of the artists included on the 21-track masterpiece — were unveiled via a huge billboard campaign that hit their hometowns throughout the week.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross, all frequent collaborators, also feature on “Certified Lover Boy.”

“Champagne Poetry,” the album’s first track, samples the Beatles’ “Michelle,” while “TSU” samples the beginning of R. Kelly’s 1998 song “Half on a Baby.”

The Grammy Award-winning artist (also known as Champagne Papi and Drizzy) initially teased the new album last summer with the song “Laugh Now Cry Later,” which featured Lil Durk, and then hinted at a full-length album release in January 2021.

“Certified Lover Boy” is his first studio album since “Scorpion” in 2018.

The “Way 2 Sexy” (with Young Thug and Future) music video was released early Friday afternoon.

The over-the-top video, directed by Dave Meyers, is a jaw-dropping, eye-popping visual frenzy of playful animation and beautiful recreations of pop culture touchstones that many find attractive.

Drake returns to his roots as an actor in “Way 2 Sexy,” which opens with him reciting the refrain from Right Said Fred’s 1992 earworm “I’m Too Sexy.” The former “Degrassi: The Next Generation” star plays a 1980s workout video instructor, a bare-bellied beachcomber well past his prime, and even a swashbuckling romance novel protagonist.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Make for an Edgy Cinderella and Prince Charming at Premiere

Thanks to the fairy godmother’s magic, Camila Cabello wore a new take on a princess gown to the ball (or rather, the premiere of her latest film).

On Wednesday, Sept. 1, Camila Cabello was joined by her Prince Charming Shawn Mendes at the Miami premiere of Cinderella. Despite their appearance as real-life royals, the pair did not wear regal attire or a traditional tux and gown.

Camila was dressed in a Christian Siriano outfit with a casual white crop top and tiered tulle skirt that might have been taken from Belle’s wardrobe by stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. A playful bob ‘do, and a dab of gold eyeshadow completed the summer look for the Fifth Harmony alum.

Shawn wore a black mesh long-sleeve with a deep V-neck, loose white slacks, and a chain necklace to look just as stylish.

Shawnmila celebrated their two-year anniversary in July when the “Treat You Better” singer shared a photo of them kissing in the Caribbean and referred to her as “my baby.”

Their love was on full show at the premiere as they held hands and gazed into one other’s eyes on the red carpet. The couple was also seen on a golf cart, waving peace signs for the camera.

Camila said on Instagram this week, “It’s not every day that you get to be Cinder-fricking-rella. So proud of this film.”

“I literally just passed out, and now I’m back, and I’m ready to read my notes,” she said to the crowd at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 30. Camila continues to say that she “believed in this movie so much, that all I wanted was to enjoy it and not f—k it up. And I’m happy I didn’t f—k it up.”

Cinderella will release on Amazon Prime Video on September 3rd.

Kanye West Finally Releases Donda Album

Kanye West did it—fashionably late—at long last.

On Sunday, Aug. 29, the 44-year-old rapper and designer released Donda, his long-awaited 10th studio album, more than a month after its planned release date and three huge listening parties later, the most recent of which had his soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Kardashian onstage in a wedding gown.

Donda, which has religious elements and is named for Kanye’s late mother, was released on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify. The album includes 27 songs, including the title track, which features Ariana Grande‘s surprising backing vocals. It’s her first time working with Kanye West. The track “Believe What I Say,” which borrows Lauryn Hill’s 1998 smash “Doo Wop (That Thing),” is also included on the album.

Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Chris Brown, Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, Young Thug, The Lox, late rapper Pop Smoke, and Jay-Z, who contributed a verse to the tune “Jail,” are among the other artists included on Donda.

Along with many others, the latter is credited as a co-writer of the song. Marilyn Manson, a.k.a. Brian Warner, was one among those who attended Kanye’s most recent listening party in Chicago.

Donda also includes a follow-up song, “Jail pt 2,” which was unable to stream for the first few hours after its release. Both Manson and rapper DaBaby, whose actual name is Jonathan Kirk and who also attended the party, are credited as co-writers of the song.

Olivia Rodrigo Gives Paramore’s Hayley Williams a Writing Credit on ‘Good 4 U’

Three months after releasing the music masterpiece “Good 4 U, ” Olivia Rodrigo has given Paramore’s Hayley Williams and ex-guitarist Josh Farro co-writing credits to the song.

Although Williams and Farro just weren’t originally credited with the song when it was released in May, comparisons to their 2007 smash “Misery Business” became quickly made, resulting in a TikTok remix of both of the songs. It’s unclear when they were given co-writing credits.

Wb Chappell Music celebrated “Good 4 U,” reaching No. 1 in the United States with a story on their Instagram account on Tuesday that said, “Huge shoutout to our writers Hayley Williams and Joshua Farro.” Williams then reposted the story, writing, “Our publisher is wildin’ rn.”

It has become regular practice for songwriters to be awarded retrospective credit on songs in order to prevent costly plagiarism lawsuits.

The credits have still not been changed on Youtube and Spotify; however, they do show on ASCAP. According to a source familiar with the situation, the artist teams were in communication before the song’s release. The song credits have also been updated to have interpolation of “Misery Business.”

The news came after Olivia Rodrigo gave writing credits to Taylor Swift with Jack Antonoff on the song “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back” from May, which is an interpolation of Reputation’s “New Year’s Day.”

Last month, Rodrigo followed it up by including Swift, Antonoff, and St. Vincent on the track “Deja Vu,” which was influenced by the song “Cruel Summer.”

“It’s one of my favorite songs ever,” Rodrigo said about the Lover track in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I love like the yelly vocals in it, like the harmonized yells that [Taylor] does, I think they’re like super electric and moving, so I wanted to do something like that,” she added.
